July 2026 Benefits Alert: Social Security Deposits and SNAP EBT Reloads

July 2026 is a big month for millions of Americans who depend on both Social Security benefits and SNAP food assistance.

Knowing exactly when your Social Security check, SSI deposit, and SNAP benefits will arrive can help you plan rent, utilities, groceries, and other essential expenses more confidently.

July 2026 Social Security Payment Dates

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has set its July 2026 payment schedule, covering retirees, SSDI beneficiaries, survivors, and SSI recipients. You can see the full calendar here:

Main July 2026 Social Security Pay Days

  • July 1, 2026 – SSI payment

    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is issued on the first of the month to adults and children with limited income and resources.

    • Program details: SSI program information

  • July 2, 2026 – Early payment for certain long‑time beneficiaries

    • Paid to people who:

      • Started receiving Social Security before May 1997, or

      • Receive both Social Security and SSI.

    • These benefits normally arrive on the 3rd of the month, but because Independence Day is observed on Friday, July 3, 2026, payments are moved to Thursday, July 2 to avoid the holiday closure.

  • July 8, 2026 – Second Wednesday

    • For beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 1st and 10th of any month.

  • July 15, 2026 – Third Wednesday

    • For beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th.

  • July 22, 2026 – Fourth Wednesday

    • For beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 21st and 31st.

Most retirees and SSDI recipients follow this Wednesday‑by‑birthday system, while long‑time beneficiaries and some SSI recipients see their payments at the beginning of the month.

Two SSI Payments in July: Early August Deposit Explained

There is a special twist for SSI in the July/August 2026 calendar:

  • August 1, 2026 falls on a weekend.

  • When that happens, SSA issues the August SSI payment early, on the last business day of July.

  • In 2026, that means August SSI is paid on Friday, July 31, 2026.

So, some SSI recipients will see two SSI deposits in July:

  • One for July (July 1)

  • One for August, paid early (July 31)

This early payment is not a bonus check—it is your August benefit paid ahead of time. SSA explains this pattern in its SSI rules here:

To avoid budget problems, SSI households should treat the July 31 deposit as August’s money and remember that there will be no SSI payment on August 1.

How Much Are Social Security Benefits in 2026?

Your Social Security amount depends on:

  • Lifetime earnings history

  • Age when you claim

  • Type of benefit (retirement, SSDI, survivors, SSI)

SSA data shows that the average monthly benefit for retired workers was about $2,082.76 in May 2026, after a cost‑of‑living adjustment (COLA) at the start of the year. Current averages and COLA details are available here:

For how COLA is calculated using CPI‑W, see:

Analysts expect a larger COLA in 2027 if inflation, energy prices, housing, and food costs continue rising, as tracked through CPI‑W:

July 2026 SNAP Payment Schedule: When Your EBT Card Reloads

Alongside Social Security, many households rely on food assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). In July 2026, SNAP benefits will be loaded on different days depending on your state or territory—there is no single nationwide pay date.

SNAP benefits are deposited to Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, which you can use at authorized grocery stores and participating online retailers.

Fourth of July Holiday and Benefit Timing

The Fourth of July holiday in 2026 affects both programs:

  • Social Security:

    • Some payments (normally due on the 3rd) are moved to Thursday, July 2, because federal offices and banks are closed on the observed holiday.

  • SNAP:

    • In states that process SNAP deposits on business days only, payments that would fall on the holiday may be shifted earlier.

    • SNAP offices and call centers may be closed over the holiday weekend, but electronic deposits continue as scheduled or slightly advanced.

Households should rely on online tools and account access rather than calling offices on the holiday.

How Much Do SNAP Households Receive and How to Check Your Date

SNAP benefit amounts are based on:

  • Household income and deductions

  • Family size

  • Certain allowable expenses

On average, SNAP households receive around $350 per month, but maximums and exact amounts vary. USDA keeps current benefit rules here:
