Storm-Affected Taxpayers Get a Break: Tax Deadlines Extended to November 2025


The IRS has officially extended tax filing deadlines for individuals and businesses in West Virginia impacted by severe storms, flooding, and landslides starting February 15, 2025.

  • New Deadline: Taxpayers now have until November 3, 2025 to file returns and make payments without penalties.
  • Covered Payments: Includes income taxes, estimated quarterly payments, and payroll taxes.
  • Penalty Relief: Payments missed between February 15 and March 3, 2025, won’t be penalized if completed by March 3, 2025.
 

Who Qualifies?

  • Residents and businesses in FEMA-designated disaster counties automatically qualify.
  • Those impacted but not updated with the IRS should call 866-562-5227 for assistance.
